continue reading if you need a Monday boost

Mondays can be tough.

They are made even tougher with a poor attitude and a lack of luster.

If you’re feeling the Monday blues, you might just need a little reminder from Aristotle on how to approach your work…

“Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”

Consider doing what you can today to find pleasure in even the most grueling of your Monday tasks, and your work will shine. And we all know that when our work shines, we can’t help but become joyful. So, it seems then, that the path to joy on a Monday (or on any day) is to find pleasure in your work.

Stephanie

actively working on a great marriage

I had an awesome conversation the other day with a dear friend about starting a family.

Josh and I plan to have kids sometime in the future, and I am starting to read books on parenting now so I can begin to prepare and learn.

When I asked this friend what books she would recommend, she had some great options for me. But towards the end of the conversation, she told me something that makes perfect sense, but not something that I was necessarily thinking about.

She said not to worry quite SO much about raising the baby. That we were going to raise our child really well. That both Josh and I are smart, loving people. The thing that is really going to be tested is our marriage. She recommended that I read about enhancing the relationship with my husband and creating an even better marriage than we’ve ever had before, because the baby has the power to cause a lot of stress on the relationship.

Well the timing of this conversation couldn’t have been better. Several weeks ago, I set a personal, one year goal of creating an even better relationship with Josh. Since then, I have been studying love, relationships, and how to create a beautiful romance that lasts a lifetime. Josh and I have a pretty fantastic marriage, but there is always room to make something great even better.

So my eyes and ears were wide open, and I was ready to work even harder on our relationship after hearing this advice.

Immediately following this conversation, Josh and I went straight to the bookstore. I bought this baby book, the first Harry Potter novel (I’ve never read these before and it’s time for me to pull my head out of the sand!), and The Seven Principles for Making a Marriage Work.

I’m about halfway through the marriage book, and already feeling the positive effects that this book is having on our relationship.

It’s a pretty magical thing when you decide what you want (a remarkable and enduring relationship with my husband) and then take massive action towards getting exactly that thing. What you want comes at you with full force, reminding you that getting clear on your intentions in this world is FUCKING POWERFUL.

Stephanie

weekend rut?

SO EXCITED for the weekend, but seem to always end up going to the same places, seeing the same people, doing the same old thing?

Not this time! This weekend, you’re going on an adventure. You’re going somewhere you’ve never gone before, doing something you’ve never done before, and putting badass adventurous energy back into your weekend. Here’s a list. Pick something fantastic, and report back 🙂

1- You’re going to get back to nature and walk through Fern Forest. And this one is right here in Coconut Creek, so it’s perfect if you want to stay local.

2- You’re headed to the fabulous Museum of Discovery and Science in Ft. Lauderdale. This one is great if you’ve got kids.

3- You’re embarking on an edible journey to Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead. On this kick-ass adventure, you get to taste the tropics. Literally! You get to eat tons of different varieties of fruits on your trip.

4- You’re off to the Venetian Pools in Coral Gables for an afternoon of complete and utter relaxation. Hours this weekend are from 10am-4:30pm.

5- You’re venturing just a bit north and going to Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens for a day of walking, reading, and getting back to nature…the zen way. And if you have kids, there is an “Origami Extravaganza” from 10am-5pm!

6- You’re going to Flamingo Gardens down in Davie to see the remarkable wildlife sanctuary! And guess what?! This Friday from 5pm-9pm they have 15 food trucks coming to the property 🙂

Cheers to your big adventure!

xoxo,

Stephanie
